Volunteers go underwater to clean up South Jetty in Venice

 

VENICE — Not long after sunrise on Sunday, dozens of volunteers climbed into the water off the South Jetty to scour the sea for underwater debris.

About 50 people signed up for the annual cleanup, which is coordinated by Ken Lackmann and sponsored by Venice-based Suncoast Reef Rovers Dive Club. Lackmann briefed 25 divers and snorkelers before they scaled the rocks to enter the water.
