Our Past Meeting

Wednesday, Oct. 15th 2025 @6:30pm

Venice City Hall - 401 W Venice Ave, Venice, FL 34285

Guest Speaker: Carol McCoy - Coastal Wildlife Club

Meeting Recap🗓️✔️

Thank you to everyone who came to our last meeting!

Carol McCoy of Coastal Wildlife Club was our guest speaker and shared with us her contagious passion for sea turtle monitoring and conservation. The Coastal Wildlife Club monitors the stretch from South Casperson Beach to the north boundary of Don Pedro State Park- including Manasota Beach, the densest sea turtle nesting beach on the Gulf Coast!

The club’s efforts include Sea Turtle Patrols, tagging programs, educational outreach, responding to strandings, and supporting turtle hospitals and rehab centers.

One visual that stood out to us was a juvenile sea turtle found with 898 pieces of plastic inside- a powerful reminder of how plastic pollution impacts marine life and why we do what we do. 🌊
