Guest Speaker: Carol McCoy - Coastal Wildlife Club

Carol McCoy of Coastal Wildlife Club was our guest speaker and shared with us her contagious passion for sea turtle monitoring and conservation. The Coastal Wildlife Club monitors the stretch from South Casperson Beach to the north boundary of Don Pedro State Park- including Manasota Beach, the densest sea turtle nesting beach on the Gulf Coast!

The club’s efforts include Sea Turtle Patrols, tagging programs, educational outreach, responding to strandings, and supporting turtle hospitals and rehab centers.

One visual that stood out to us was a juvenile sea turtle found with 898 pieces of plastic inside- a powerful reminder of how plastic pollution impacts marine life and why we do what we do.

Up N’ Out Cleanup St. Pete Yacht Club

When: April 11, 2026, 6am-1pm

Where: St. Pete Yacht Club - Pass-a-Grille

Partners: Blue Urban Project, Lett's Dive & Mindful Action for Regeneration (MAR)

Join us for an underwater cleanup at the St. Pete Yacht Club in Pass-a-Grille! Our diver-led cleanups remove marine debris from docks and surrounding water, protecting seagrass, wildlife, and water quality in Tampa Bay.

In addition to removing debris, we’ll be conducting light data collection, recording the type, quantity, and location of items recovered, to better understand where pollution is coming from and to strengthen future prevention efforts. This information helps us track trends over time, share results with partners, and advocate for solutions that reduce debris at the source.

Monthly Donut Dives

Looking for an easy way to stay involved and meet other divers? Join Florida Underwater Sports for their monthly Donut Dive! Enjoy free coffee and donuts while connecting with fellow diving enthusiasts. This meet-up style dive offers a great opportunity to socialize and share your passion for diving.

Dive briefings takes place at 9 AM. We recommend arriving between 8 and 8:30 AM as some of our sites have limited parking spaces. Look for our table and sign-in area to get started. In case of bad weather, we still meet up and try to do a beach clean-up.

If you have any further questions about the Donut Dives, please give Florida Underwater Sports a call. (941) 870 4461
